A Local Photographer Who Understands the Coast

I'm Barry Carnell, a photographer based just outside New Romney on the Kent coast. I've spent years photographing the landscapes, light, and character of this stretch of coastline — and I bring that same eye for detail to every holiday let I photograph.

I understand that your property is an investment, and that the photos in your advert are often the first — and most important — impression a potential guest will have. My aim is simple: to make your listing look as good as your property actually is.

Whether you have a beach chalet in Greatstone, a cottage in Rye or Winchelsea, a static caravan near Camber Sands, a marsh retreat near Tenterden, or a premium let in Hythe or Folkestone, I'll work with you to create images that sell the stay — not just the rooms.

Everything You Need to Know

It's straightforward. You get in touch via the enquiry form or by phone, we agree a date and package that suits you, and I visit your property at a time that works — ideally when it's clean, tidy, and showing at its best. I'll guide you on any simple preparation beforehand. After the shoot, I edit the images and deliver them within 48 hours, ready for you to upload directly to your listing.
Standard turnaround is 48 hours from the shoot date. For the Listing Boost and Premium Coastal Story packages, allow up to 72 hours to include the copy refresh. If you need images urgently — for example, to update a listing before a peak booking period — just let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.
All images are delivered in formats suitable for Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Simply Owners, and direct-booking websites. I'll advise on image ordering, crop options, and which shots to use as your cover photo — the most important image on any listing.
A clean, tidy property always photographs better. I'll send you a simple preparation checklist after booking — things like opening curtains, removing personal clutter, putting fresh towels out, and adding a few finishing touches. You don't need to redecorate; I work with what you have and make it look its best.
Caravans and chalets are a big part of what I do. The same principles apply — good light, guest-focused composition, and images that sell the experience. I'm very familiar with the static caravan and chalet parks along this stretch of coast and know how to make them look genuinely appealing.
Yes. The copy I provide is written to work within the character limits and style guidelines of Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo. It's designed to be honest, guest-focused, and persuasive — not misleading. You'll always review and approve any copy before it goes live.
My core service area covers the full Romney Marsh coastal strip and surrounding villages — from Camber Sands, Rye, and Winchelsea in the west, through Greatstone, Dungeness, Lydd, Dymchurch, and Hythe, to Folkestone in the east. Inland locations including Tenterden, Appledore, and Brookland are also covered. Properties outside this area are welcome — please enquire and I'll confirm availability and any travel supplement.
Most shoots take between one and two hours depending on the size of the property and the package chosen. You're welcome to be present, but it's not essential — many owners simply leave a key. I'll work methodically through every room and the exterior, and I'll let you know when I'm done. There's no need to rearrange your day around me.
Payment is by bank transfer and is due within 48 hours of receiving your edited images. There's no upfront deposit required for most bookings. If you need to reschedule, please give at least 48 hours' notice and I'll find a new date at no extra charge. Cancellations within 24 hours of the shoot may incur a call-out fee to cover travel and preparation time.
